The Beautiful Indonesia


Indonesia, the large country with the large ethnic, culture, linguistic, and religious groups. It has around 17,508 islands officially with 922 of those permanently inhabited. The population is around 230 million people and it brings Indonesia as the fourth most populous country in the world. Indonesia is located in Southeast Asia and Oceania, and the country extends from adjacent the Malay Peninsula in its west and into Melanesia in its east. Indonesia climate is tropical equatorial with temperatures ranging between 21 - 33 degrees centigrade. Average humidity is 60-90% and the rainfall is heaviest between November to February.


Indonesia has exotic white-sand beaches with the unforgettable sunset panoramic landscapes. Volcanoes with eternal snow-capped mountain peaks creating an impressive backbone for much of the archipelago. Orang utans, pre-historic dragons (komodo), birds of Paradise, Javanese eidelweiss are little parts of natural wonders that you can find in Indonesia.

Indonesia has two main islands, Greater Sunda Islands and New Guinea. Indonesia also has another awesome islands, such as Bali, Lombok, Nias archipelago (kepulauan Nias), Thousand Islands archipelago (kepulauan Seribu), Samosir island on Lake Toba, etc.
  1. Greater Sunda Islands
  • Borneo — divided between Indonesian Kalimantan, Brunei, and Malaysia's states of Sabah and Sarawak
  • Java — formerly Jawa Dwipa, the country’s most populated Island
  • Sumatraformerly Swarna Dwipa
  • Sulawesi — formerly Celebes
  1. New Guinea — divided between Indonesian provinces of Papua and West Papua and the independent nation of Papua New Guinea

Administratively, Indonesia consists of 33 provinces, with Jakarta as the country's special capital region. The official language is Bahasa Indonesia with numerous regional languages and dialects.The Rupiah (Rp) is currency used in Indonesia.


In culture, Indonesia has around 300 ethnic groups, where each ethnic has different traditional culture such as Pendet (traditional Balinese dance), wayang kulit (shadow puppet) performances, and textiles such as Batik, Songket , and Ikat.
